An incredible experience at the 2025 karate retreat at the castle. Unbelievable location, fantastic organisation, wonderful atmosphere and great company. Christian, Iain and Matt all provide inspiring instruction in such a relaxed manner. I definitely would wholeheartedly recommend and look forward to returning

Burg Stahleck Karatepraxis Retreat – July 2025

The Karatepraxis Retreat at Burg Stahleck this year was once again beyond words—truly unforgettable and filled with growth, laughter, and connection.
We had the privilege of training under some truly incredible instructors: Sensei Iain Abernethy, Christian Wedewardt, Master Ken and Matt Page. Each of them brought their own unique approach and energy to the seminars, and we were incredibly lucky to benefit from their deep knowledge, generosity, and passion for karate.
From powerful bunkai sessions to dynamic drills and insightful workshops, every class was a learning experience in its own right. The energy was heightened by over a hundred amazing participants.
One of the absolute highlights was The Master Ken Show—an unforgettable experience full of humor, surprise, and “Ameri-Do-Te” flair! If there had been a prize for “The Person Who Laughed the Most,” I would have gladly and proudly accepted it—with grace and a big smile! 😂
Every year at this retreat brings something special. Last year was amazing, but this year truly outdid itself—especially having most of the team together. We trained hard, shared deeply, and laughed freely. The sense of family, community and purpose was something I will carry with me for a long time.

We’re gonna have a good one? We had a great one.
Already looking forward to next year!

Karate praxis has given me a different view of what karate should be and supplements my own training perfectly. Christian makes the classes very fun and engaging whilst adding a serious no nonsense approach. A thoroughly fun and fantastic experience

Martin Loch

I attended Christian Wedewardt’s seminar at the West Seattle Karate Academy. It was fabulous and a terrific learning experience. He broke down a sequence from several kata and gave different bunkai for each. It was simple to follow along regardless of experience or style. I learned a lot and broadened my mind on movements I though I understood. Christian has a very friendly approach and I thoroughly enjoyed the day. I would definitely jump at any opportunity to learn something new from Karate Praxis.

  • Christian’s seminar in Seattle was such a great time. I liked his approach to training. It was fun from the beginning to the end. His view of Karate provided great applications to katas and new training practices. His explanations are full of practical and historical knowledge. I would attend his seminars in the future, and am looking forward to see what he does on line until then.

  • Christian as promised the course you recently taught in Seattle completely blew my mind! Soooo enjoyable from the warmup through to all the applications and explanations that made so much sense. The bunkai application was great partnered work. I only wish we’d had more time to do more. I would highly recommend any course Christian teaches to those with an open mind about karate. I look forward to learning more from your book and sharing the knowledge with other in my club and hope that we might one day host you in Seattle again.

  • I just attended an amazing seminar taught by Christian in Seattle, Washington USA. Christian did a great job starting off the seminar by getting everyone comfortable with each other, both by introducing ourselves with a silly dance and then by hitting each other to set the tone for the day. He maintained his infectious enthusiasm throughout the entire day and did a great job providing interesting practical material. Christian is very knowledgeable and had a fun but serious approach to his teaching. I would highly recommend attending one of Christian’s seminars if you have the chance.

    Christian,
It was a great pleasure meeting and learning from you this past weekend. Your excitement and love of the martial arts is the reason I began my own training. I believe if I am working hard and having a good, fun time in the dojo, then I am training correctly. Your seminar embodied both of these aspects. I hope that you will visit the West Coast again soon so I may further learn from your Karate.
Thank you and best wishes on your next adventures.

Christian, thank you for coming all the way to Seattle to share your praxis system. We had a great time exploring your concepts and bunkai applications. I enjoyed your insights on why do kata turn the opposite way and do the say technique combination. It was a pleasure meeting you and I look forward to your book being published in English so that I can do a deeper dive into knowledge that you shared.

Christian is an extremely engaging teacher, with an infectious personality. Accessible and very effective material taught by someone who clearly knows his stuff and loves what he is doing deeply. Very much worth the time of any serious martial artists.
